exploring the world around me

vintage

this is my shop name in old cromwell town, cromwell, new zealand.

there have been many (well, ok maybe two…i live in a small town) people who find this name misleading. if they were to look in the dictionary they will find a couple of definitions of “vintage”. i chose: noun a collection of contemporaneous and similar people or things; a crop

or

adj of the best and most characteristic

the latter being my ego talking.

vintage to me is a shop containing a collection of the best items created by merv, possum and elise.

merv (my father n’ law) is the stone cutter

possum (my partner) is the woodsmith

elise designs and makes all the other pieces, as well as mans the shop.

and just next door, is marie (my sister n’ law) who designs jewelry out of fused glass which is unlike anything i have ever seen in my years of jewelry design.
